The following are my answers to the questions I am most frequently asked, but if you need to know anything that isn't on this page, please phone me.
What do you look for in a model ?
In order of importance, I would say girls who are keen, reliable and punctual, comfortable in front of a camera and who have figures that are proportionately in shape.
Can you tell if someone is photogenic ?
Not until I photograph them.
Is age important ?
No, not really, but you have to be over 18. Older girls often ask if there is any work available and the answer is "yes", but not as much as there is for younger models - but then there are fewer older models available so it tends to even out.
Do I have to do nude modelling ?
Not if you don't want to, although it would be fair to point out that there is less work available if you restrict yourself to topless modeling. At the end of the day the choice is yours.
How much do glamour models earn ?
The minimum rates are £30 per hour topless, £40 per hour for classical figure (tasteful nude), £50 per hour for mens magazine style nude and £50 per hour plus for video work. If you are booked for half a day the normal fee is £150 (plus travel expenses) and for a whole day expect to receive about £250 (plus travel expenses). Rates for video work are approximately 50% more.
I understand that you offer free test shoots - what are these ?
Free test shoots are just that - FREE. I usually shoot around 200 photos (time permitting - so please don't be late for your photo shoot). All the photos will be different and I provide free training to give you an idea of what to do and what editors look for. The shoot will last for between four and five hours including time taken up with things such as make-up, outfit changes, tea breaks and seeing the photographs afterwards !
The test shoots are intended to be fun and I will do my best to make you feel comfortable, confident and professional so that we will get great photos.
When are the test shoots available ?
Test shoots are available seven days a week subject to availability. There is usually a waiting list so it pays to book early.
How long will the free test shoot offer continue for ?
I have to fit the test shoots in around my magazine work, but otherwise I will offer them for as long as I can afford to. Please note though that I can only afford to offer you one appointment for free, so before you book the free test shoot, please be 100% certain that you can keep the appointment ! Appointments can be changed as long as you give me at least seven days notice - otherwise I would have to ask you for the normal £50 studio booking fee in advance.
If the test shoot is free, what is in it for you ?
Lots of things - Firstly, I get to discover the stars of tomorrow before anyone else. Secondly, I enjoy the variety of working with beginners as well the professionals. Thirdly, I can try out new ideas that I may have. Lastly, I hope that you will purchase some of your photos from the test shoot at a nominal price to help cover my costs, although there is absolutely no obligation to buy any of them if you don't want to - but I can't afford to give the pictures away or I would go broke !
What's in it for me ?
You get the opportunity to see and feel what it is like to be a professional glamour model for a day ! The test shoot is completely free - I pay for all the film, studio time, lighting, heating, tea, coffee etc. All you have to do is get here !
What do I need to bring with me for the test shoot ?
1. A selection of
clothes suitable for glamour - anything sexy or unusual
2. Best underwear including hold-ups, stockings or tights
3. Footwear - shoes and boots
4. Accessories such as jewellery, hats, gloves, glasses etc.
5. Make-up
Lastly, a couple of tips - make sure that your fingernails and toenails look good and remember to not wear tight fitting clothes when you are traveling here so as to avoid strap-marks !
What happens after the test shoot ?
The photos from your test shoot will be available to view while you are here as everything is done digitally so you don't have to come back again just to see your photos.
The prints are not expensive as my overheads are low. A4 (12"x8") prints are only £15 each and all photos are available on CD-ROM if required.
If you decide you would like to be a full-time or part-time professional glamour model, I offer a special Model's Starter Pack for £295 (worth £395). The package consists of a professional A4 portfolio case containing 20 A4 photos of your choice plus a CD-ROM containing the photos plus a list of glamour modeling agencies that you can sign up with.
Payment for photos can be made with cash, cheque (with guarantee card) or credit card. Payments can also be spread over 3 months if it helps you.
Can I bring someone with me ?
Certainly, but they will have to amuse themselves for about four hours as my attention will be devoted to you. If you have any female friends who are also interested in glamour modelling, they can come with you and have a free test shoot at the same time. This works out more cost effective for me and I can pass this on to you by offering you both 20% discount off any photographs that you subsequently wish to purchase.
What is the legal position regarding any photos you take of me ?
Very simple - I cannot sell them to anyone else without your written consent (called a "Model Release Form") and you can't copy them or sell them without my consent - it's called copyright !
